Scorpion® – the world’s first remote, addressable, universal smoke detector test system is to be physically unveiled at International Fire Expo in May 2007.
Scorpion solves the challenges of testing awkward or inaccessible detectors, (floor voids, roof spaces, lift shafts, at extreme heights, etc). Such detectors are often hidden from view and, while testing them is vital, it can be expensive, disruptive and / or dangerous. Scorpion solves the problem safely and cost effectively by providing a genuine functional smoke entry check – remotely.
The Scorpion system comprises micro smoke generators permanently installed behind, or adjacent to, detectors and is activated from floor level through a conveniently located wall mounted access point by means of a portable handset, carried by the service engineer. In this way, the soft addressed Scorpion system is integrated with, but electrically isolated, from the fire system with which it networks and can not only be included with new installations but fitted, retrospectively, to existing fire detection systems.
Scorpion, which is protected by International Patents, will be available for demonstration throughout the show on stand C70 in Hall 7.
*Scorpion is anticipated to be available in late 2008. Accuracy of this estimate will depend on third party listing organisations. Please verify progress before specifiying/ordering.
