Nigel Smith – Customer Focused

As a key part of the Sales & Marketing team, Nigel Smith deals with technical sales support on a daily basis, answering queries and solving issues.

Meet the man who ensures we continue to improve and provide the best possible service.

Nigel, can you tell us about your background?

I’m a Spanish Speaker, born in South America and my experience covers aerospace, communications, adhesives technologies and security systems. I love astronomy and in my free time enjoy travelling, listening to Blues music and of course sampling different foods – another foodie in the company.

 

How did you get into your current role?

I have always enjoyed helping, whether it’s on the phone or in person, and this is what I undertook in previous roles. At the time I joined, there was a short term need in the company in Product Support. It seemed a natural progression for me from my previous roles and I have been here ever since.

 

I do get a buzz when they let me know that the problem they had was overcome and they get up and running to continue their day’s work.

 

Can you give us an idea of what you get up to at Detectortesters day-to-day?

No two days are the same. I provide assistance and guide customers either on the phone or e-mail who have a product of ours and are experiencing issues. I do get a buzz when they let me know that the problem they had was overcome and they get up and running to continue their day’s work. I also compile information on our products which is quite useful in spotting trends.

 

Finally, what’s the biggest thing that has surprised you working here?

How friendly and helpful everyone is. When I look back at what I’ve learned since joining, it takes my breath away.
