Operations Director

John joined the company in October 2016 after spending over 20 years working in various Operations and Manufacturing management roles across UK.

With experience within Audio, Defence, Medical and Print industries, John has a strong understanding of the operational needs associated with the design and manufacturing of products.  John and his team are tasked with the management of an international supply chain and the execution of manufacturing plans to meet our increasing global customer base.

In his spare time John enjoys spending time with the family and training at his local Karate club

Technical Director

Jake joined Detectortesters in 2018 and has previously worked in the printing and automotive industries.  For the last 12 years however, it is the fire industry which has been Jake’s passion – working in a similar role at FFE Ltd.

Jake joins at an exciting time for the business, heading up the research and development, engineering, compliance and chemical development teams responsible for our next generation of solutions.

Outside of work, when not ferrying his children to various activities, Jake enjoys mountain biking, running and playing the guitar.

Having worked in a number of sectors including Scientific Instruments and Technology, Alison has been developing our HR practices and processes and working on talent acquisition across the company.

Phil originally joined the company in 1995 when there were only 25 employees. Starting in a sales role, researching markets and developing new opportunities, Phil has been responsible for taking our products into new markets and territories. After a period as Sales Manager, Phil became Sales and Marketing Director accountable for the continued growth and development of our Sales Channels worldwide.

Outside work Phil is a keen sports fan and can often be found either behind a camera or a good book!

Finance Director

Fraser joined the company in 2014 in a senior finance role bringing with him experience from both practice and industry. Heading up the Finance team, Fraser has been responsible for improving business planning and reporting along with supporting our international sales business model from a Finance perspective.

Fraser is a keen golfer and likes to spend time with his family when not immersed in a spreadsheet!

Part of what makes us unique is that we maintain a production line assembling and packing the product we design.   This not only means we are able to have finished product available quickly but also makes it easier for us to ensure quality and standards are maintained. We have a purchasing and planning team that ensures we are always getting the best prices on the best materials and that, with good forecasting, we are able to manage stock and provide the best possible delivery dates to customers.


Sales & Marketing

Our products are available worldwide, our sales team travel far and wide to achieve this taking time to understand the market and develop relationships with key players. As a result we now sell to over 120 countries and have established specialist distributors in many of them. We support distributors with customised marketing material – including multi lingual websites and presence at all major industry tradeshows – and with product support available online and by phone.



As genuine market leaders it’s the role of the technical team to ensure we are constantly ahead of the field and developing solutions that really make a difference to our customers. To make this possible we rely on the expertise of mechanical, software and chemical engineers – all employed at our Hertfordshire base.


Business Services

Behind the scenes we have a professional team supporting the business with Finance, IT and Human Resources. Whether it is ensuring we have systems to support our operations, robust business plans in place or an effective team, our Business Services team partner closely with all functions to make certain we get the best results for both the business and customers.
